'Meditation for Modern Life' Six Week Course Starts Monday June 6th at 7:00 PM AEDT. A daily practice of meditation can truly change your life. However, often it is difficult to know where to begin. In this six week online course, you will learn and practice a variety of meditation skills based on authentic Buddhist teachings, presented in a context that speaks to the challenges we all face in modern life. In each session we learn and meditate together, and then share our questions, insights and experiences. All are welcome, regardless of your experience with meditation. You can either sign up for six sessions, or drop in whenever you wish if a particular topic catches your interest. The course outline appears below. Note that the course is also advertised through a international Buddhist group known as the Dzokden Community, and we warmly welcome any overseas participants. COURSE OUTLINE: Session 1. June 6th We invite you to explore what meditation is and how a meditation practice can help you in your life. Session 2. June 13th Be guided to find a meditation object or practice that works for your unique personality type. Session 3. June 20th Discover the power of breathing meditation to make your mind calm, clear and strong, and become aware of your 'subtle energy body'. Session 4. July 4th Learn about and practice heart-centred meditation ('metta') and mindful self-compassion. Session 5. July 11th Learn to work with visualisation and sound (or mantra) as tools to uncover your innate purity and source connection. Session 6. July 18th Use meditation to explore the conditioned nature of our reality and unveil our potential to discover truth, love and freedom. The meditations shared will be mostly based on the Buddhist tradition linked to the online course 'An Authentic Guide to Meditation' offered by dzokden.org . Perspectives based on modern psychology and trauma therapies will also be shared.
